I recently installed Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 on a Windows NT SP6a. When it first booted after the upgrade, I receieved an error message stating that one of the services failed at startup (Task Scheduler). The specific error was “Error 2186: The service is not responding to the control function”. When the Event Logs were checked, they came up with the following messages specific to this error “The Task Scheduler service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond tothe start or control request in a timely fashion. (Event ID 7000) and Timemeout (120000 milliseconds) waiting for service to connect. (Event ID 7009)”
Is there a fix so this service may again function correctly?
