Setting up IIS

I’ve got a newly built NT 4 Server with IIS 4 on it and running. I can connect from the internal network without problem but when trying from a remote location, such as my home, I get a 500 internal server error. I am sure it is something simple Iam missing but, as per usual, Microsoft’s help files are less than helpful. Any thoughts or solutions would be gratefully received!!!
