Setting up shares when converting to NT

We are converting to NT 4.0 from Netware 4.2. In Netware we mapped an F: drive to the DATA volume. Based on the groups you belong to you can only see certain folders. We want to do the same with NT, but can’t seem to get it to work. We have a DATA volume on the NT server, F: locally. We can’t seem to get the comination of shares, hidden shares and permissions to work. We dont’ want to have to map 10 differnt drives, just one F: drive. We can limit access to the folders users aren’t supposed to access, but can hide them from view. Please advise.
