Setup Outlook link Exchange server 5.5

I have a Win2000 pro Pc which I would like to setup to retreive email from MS Exchange Server 5.5 using Outlook2000. On setting up the profile in Mail under control panel an error “unable to resolve name” comes up when I setup email account profile for MS Exchange server. When using win98 this error does not come up the user name is underlined after I click on check name.
I have tried to setup internet mail on this same pc and I have only managed to send mail but I cannot receive email even though on the Exchange server it shows that i have mail for this pc.

please assist if there is an easy way of setting up an email on this Pc under Win2000 and what patches I may need for me to have this user to be able to link to their mail on the Exchange server 5.5
