Sftware testing

Hi,
I am a hardware engineer. Our company has two wing s one is hardware dept and the other is software.
As it is very small organization so I involved as
a technical support of hardware dept and as well as involved software tester. I want to know is it
important to complete any course to shift my career as a professional software tester.
