shared files on win2k server

I can successfully map a drive to a shared file on a win2k sever form a windows 95 station. However when i run a batch file for the same drive mapping I get a password request message.
The present pdc is an nt4. scripts are run from nt4. this does not happen with win2k work stations or win98 work stations. Any insight will be helpful. thanks
