Shared folders in Domain Controller

I have a Win2000 server Domain controller in my network

if i Browse Domain controller from any machine’s Network Neibhourhood , i can see some shared folders like, ” NETLOGON, sysvol, VPLOGON ”

what is this folders for and is it necessery to share these folders and where is the location of these folders
