Sharing a Printer on a wireless Network

I have a wirless home network with one computer wired into a Dlink router and the other is a laptop which a connect wirelessly the router. Both computer connect the internet fine but when try to share files or printer across it I’m unable to view the network when connected wirelessly with the laptop. When I run the network setup wizard on the laptop it only detects the wired port on the laptop not the wireless adapter. Any ideas on how to make this work is there something I’m missing. Thanks for your input.
