Sharing a shared printer in Windows XP

I have a shared printer on an XP workstation and am trying to setup a printer on a Windows 2000 server that will point to that shared printer. Once it is setup, I can print a test page from the server but print jobs from any other workstations stay in the queue (at the W2000 server)reporting an error.
This setup works when the shared printer is on a W2000 or W98 workstation but not on an XP workstation. Does anyone know whether this will work and/or what needs to be done to get it to work?
