– Cannot download
– Box that gives option, ‘save to disk’ and ‘save to current location’ never appears
– Box with ‘flying files’ appears briefly, then error message
– Error Message– “IE cannot download from www.xxxx.com. IE was not able to open internet site. The requested site was either unavailable or cannot be found.”
– When trying to run something (virus check, security check, etc), from a sites side, receive error message
– Error Message–“ActiveX and/or Scripting is not supported oris not enabled.”
– I have done all the obvious : Enabled all ActiveX & scripting, reinstalled IE etc.
– Have run the not so obvious(for a beginner) scan file checker, checked file association, scanreg / restore from DOS etc.
– Tried to troubleshoot from http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/downfile.htm
http://snakefoot.fateback.com/tweak/windows/tips.html among many other sites.
– While running .dll files (Urlmon.dll, Mshtml.dll, Actxprxy.dll, Oleaut32.dll, Shell32.dll etc) all were fine except shell32.dll
– Error Message–“Shell32.dll was loaded but DLLRegistry Server entry point not found. DLLRegistry Server may not be exported, or corrupt version of shell32.dll may be in memory, use PWiew to detect and remove it”
Could this be my problem? Can this be fixed from the Registry Editor? If so, and you can help, please be very simplistic. Me in Registry Editor = very scary.
