Show full path UNC instead of drive letter

Is there a way to have the full path instead of the map letter show in windows explorer? also in Internet explorer? Currently WinXP

example: \\myserver\folder2\nextfold\ is mapped to M. when in windows explorer it will only show M:\folder2\nexted would prefer to see \\myserver\….

If this is a word document or excel I can use the toolbar web option to get around.
