Shutdown-Power options

I have looked on Windows knowledge base & followed directions for the Advanaced power options. Yet I continue to have the same problems. Once selecting Shutdown option from Start, you are prompted with it is now safe to turn off your computer. How do you select for the computer to shut down from the shutdown option?
