Slow Boot up

Boot process is sooooo slow. From the time you enter the log in user name and password is really slow and getting slower. The disk light on the processor shows no sign of disk activity. I have done the usual defrag, deleting all tmp and cashe but no significant improvements. This is NT 4 sp4 workstation. Help me in getting a direction.
