We run 2 Nt 4.0 update 6 P3 800 mghz with 512 meg ram servers. They have Intel 10/100 nics running full duplex,. They run through a 2 Linksys 10/100 auto switchs and 1 10BaseT hub. We have 50 users running Windows 98 All are static TCIP. with a varity of configurations. A lot of times it can take 5-10 minutes to transfer a 20 meg file. Other times it will only take 30 secs. Small files (less than 2megs)will transfer real fast almost all the time. It doesn’t appear to matter which computer it isor how many people are on the network. At night when there is only 1 or 2 people it will act the same.It seems to be worst on the systems that are connected to the switch. I tried another switch to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help. 1 person told me that having the hub hooked up could be hurting the whole system and that i should switch to half duplex unless I remove the hub. (all hubs run at half duplex) Any help would be appreaciated
