Slow printing problem

After recently upgrading to Windows XP Professional, a small network was set up in the office here.

Both terminals have been linked with a router. Now it takes an unusually long time to print out anything on the screen. This problem occurs when printing off the net or even a prepared document in word.

The DSL modem has been connected properly to the router and the spooling options have all been unchecked.

What can be done to speed up the printing process?
