Slow response from PC

by mckb . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

The PC is a PIII, 700mhz, 128mb Ram running windows 98 SE. The problem is in running ACT 2000 (version 5.02).

I can not seem to get this PC to perform quickly in ACT after ACT was upgraded to 5.02. The initial 5.0 ran beautifully. The remainder of installations were upgraded so this one had to follow suit.

ACT support have not found a solution. I have copied the networked database to the local HDD with the same slow response. I have Pentiums and PII’s performing faster.

I have tried increasing the virtual memory, changing the type to File Server, increasing the ram from 64 to 128; nothing seems to help. I have followed ACT’s ”Optimizing Win98 for use with ACT” to no avail.

Other applications seem to run quite well. Accessing network folders is fast. The NIC is a 10/100.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Barry
