Slower directory access in NT than 95

When accessing a directory on our NT 4.0 server workstations using Win95 display the content instantly while the Win 2000 workstations take 12-18 seconds to display the contents. Is there something I should change to speed up the Win2K workstations? The directory also displays slowly from Windows Ecplorer on the actual server.
