Small business IT consultant

I am considering starting my own business as an IT consultant to small businesses. As a newbie, I would like to know what are the most common platforms and development technologies to address this market sector. My guess would be Microsoft Office stuff, like Access, SQL Server, and VB. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
