SMS 2.0 Profile issues

I have an NT 4.0 environment and on one of our servers we our running SMS 2.0 (systems Managment server). Every time we run a discover it places multiple sms profiles on the client PC’s (all running NT Workstation 4.0). I know this is normal, however on every PC that it does this to, it always corrupts the existing user profiles. And the only fix for this is to login as the admin, blow away the user(s)profile that is corrupt and then create a new one. Does any one know how to prevent SMS from corrupting all the profiles and making a lot of work for us in IT? Please Help, and Thank you very much! :o)
