Socket Programming Behind A Firewall

Hi
well im trying to establish a socket connecion behind a firewall,(TCP sockets)’
for a chay module
i believe i will get host not found exeption
does anyone have any idea how to configure a prog so thatr it can establish sockets behind a firewall ?
