software and network problem

1. I coppied out a file from a system running in windows exp, format the drive and load win98, when i coppied the file back, anytime i want to open this particular file, the system will freeze, is there anything i can do so that i can open the file without the system freezing.

2. i cnnect a system running win98 to network, the server is running win2000, anytime i want to acess the server, it will ask for password, and i want to use the printer that is on the network that is connected to the server.
