Sony DVD burner

I cna burn dcr’s but cannot burn on dvd’s. Would cleanin the burner fix that? Or could it be something else. It worked easrlier and them I re installed Windows XP pro sp2 and it stopped brunung the dvd’s.

It is a Sony DVD RW DRU-710A
