Sound

I replaced MTHR BD with new Soyo w/audio & 1.3 Celeron CPU, 384 MB memory SDRAM(PC133). Used Exisitng HD with Win 98 2nd Ed. All new Device installed OK including Audio. At Control Panel/Sounds/preview WAV sound (Exit Windows or any other)no sound is produced. The play button remains dimmed at all times. I have reduced the graphics accelerator; doesn’t have any effect.

I disabled the on board audio (Via) and installed Cmedia 8738. When System Devices is checked the Device Driver reports that the Audio device is operating properly; however, same result as above when Sounds is checked out.
