sound blaster emulation problem

On my 98 machine I have to remove the vortex sound blaster emulation from the driver in order to boot up Windows 98, this did not happen until I wiped the drive and reloaded everything to start clean. Windows will reinstall the driver but I dont want to have to remove the driver every time I reboot? what can I do to fix this?
