sound card does not work

Hi,
I have a winbook laptop and the sound card does not work. I have reinstalled drivers. There are no conflicts in Device Manager. In control panel through the sound applet I do not hear sounds when I click on one. Hhardware Troubleshooter tells me this device is working fine. Am looking for additional ways to test the sound card.
