Sound Card Problem

i have windows Xp SP2 system i installed a sound card and the sound works i can hear the problem is when the sound card is present my computer will not shutdown. i’ve tried everything i could to shut it off but it keeps restarting even if i disable the soundcard or uninstall the driver it wont shut off!
