Sound Problem

I have this problem, when there are two requests for sound, l get this ding, ding, until l reboot. This problem started after reformatting the hard drive.

For example, if l have the radio going, through IE6, and l get an error message, the ding, ding, happens until l reboot.

This problem is very frustrating, and l am sure there is someone with the computer expertise that can offer a suggestion.
