sound problems

I recently had to reformat my hard drive because WindowsMe was having too many errors all of a sudden. The only operating system i could find was Window 98SE. Now everything works great except the sound. I’ve tried locating a driver for it but nothing has worked. I have an emachine 633is. Can someone point me in the right direction?
