Spoolsv.exe problems

I am running Windows 2000 Server and recently my printers stopped working. Anytime I try to print something my computer would hang and when I checked the task manager spoolsv.exe was taking up 20-50% of the CPU. I tried to go into the printers control panel and the same thing happens. I stopped the process in the services control panel and restarted. Do I need to reinstall the service? How do I resolve this without reinstalling the OS? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
