I am currently running a MSSQL server 2000 in a Windows 2000 Standard Server. I have deveoped an In-house application using Visual Basic & client-Server architecture. The server,currently running 512MB physical memory, 1.5 GB of virtual memory on a Pentium III Xeon 1GHz Compaq box.
Recently, we discover that the SQL server comsume a lot’s of my server resources which up to 400+MB, at the same time, this make all the current connected & active facing problem of server slow responses.
By the way our developer & engineer have tried their best to fine tune & optimize sql queries, program code and even latest system patches, but all these hard work didn’t make a change to the situation. From day to day is just getting worse but not better. Furthermore, I shall not because of the hardware requirement, as there only 5 concurrent users at one time which I believe is more that enough to handle all the process.
If anyone one face this problem before or you have any valuable suggestion.It would be more that happy for me to refer to it. Thanks in advance.
