start menu, task bar and iexplorer do not appear on logon for one account

last thing I did was run a full scan with Bullguard, which came up clean. Next day when I logged in, my account displayed most o fteh desktop icons but the taskbar remained blank and My computer and IExplorer icns are not there. I ran scannow, no joy. strange thing is that if I switch user accounts, all is fine!
I am running a home PC with XP SP2.

Any ideas folks?
