STARTING A DOTCOM WEBSITE

Hi,
Can anyone think of a good .com provider??? I’m looking at making one of those domainname.com sites, and can’t quite figure out how this all works. Do they provide the space??? How much space do i get??? Or do i need to buy a server to makethis??? Any information about this whole topic would be great. Some prices might also be handy…
