Startup Error

On bootup error message displays Msgsvr32 caused an exception 10h in module Devcon32.dll at 0187:xxxxxxxx. Sometimes it hangs the system and I have to shutdown. Also, maybe related, scan disk runs every time I restart the system, but not when I shut down.
