Stock options; industry & Microsoft?

This morning’s newspaper (Gannett owned,) stated at the end of the Microsoft stock option article, “The last vestiges of the internet boom fades away.)”
Are we the new the dinasoars since Telcom is evaporating and IT is exported like the shoe and steel industry?
Does any one think that WiFi applications are the new bleeding edges or is there another new technology boom waiting?
