Strange Networking Question on WIN ME

My laptop has Windows ME installed. It cannot obtain IP from the DHCP server. If I assign an IP by myself, then I can ping and even browse the others PCs (with windows 95/98 installed) but I cannot ping the servers (Windows 2000 installed). I think that is why it cannot obtain IP from the DHCP server.

Is the NIC problem or WIN ME / Windows 2000 problem?
