Strange .TMP files placed…

by klk . Updated 24 years, 7 months ago

Here’s a question:

Recently, while looking at the contents of my Windows folder, I noticed some strange looking .TMP files being “tossed” into that folder. They are not being placed in any kind of directory, just right in the Windows directory.I know it is safe to delete these types of files, but what I would like to know is why these files are being put there when this has never happened before.

I am running WinME, and yes, I have scanned my computer for viruses, and yes, I have a firewall running at all times. Here’s an example of what the file looks like:

fffe85b9_{6F17B807-F422-4DB8-A5C4-A8DBE8604273}.tmp

Any ideas would be a great help, and if someone can tell me how to stop the dumping of these files into the Windowsfolder would be even better!

Thanks in advance…
