Surround Sound

I have an Asus P5B-MX/WiFi-AP mobo running Fedora 7 (2.6.22.7-85.fc7) with the Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

I have installed

1.) alsa-kmdl
2.) alsa-lib
3.) alsa-driver
4.) alsa-utils
5.) alsa-tools

speaker-test -c6 -tw only plays through the left and right channels.
speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -s1 -f75 replies with –

ALSA lib pcm.c:2144snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM surround51
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory

I’ve ran alsaconf and made sure that all the channels are unmuted and at full volume via alsamixer…

I do get stereo sound with the (green) speaker output. Yet, I can not get the (mic) pienk and (blue) line-in channels to output sound.

Therefore no surround sound effect…

Is there a specific build I have to do to have these “input” channels change into “output” channels?…
