Sysprep and Computer Names

My network is set up with workstations having the naming convention of the letter “w” plus the last six characters of the MAC address of the integrated NIC.

I want to be able to AUTOMATICALLY have sysprep name the computer following this naming convention. I do not use RIS yet although from an article on this site I see you can program a policy for the RIS server to do this. I am looking for a native sysprep method of accomplishing the same task.

It would be real nice to not allow “human error” in naming the workstations and automatically have sysprep do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
