system crash

i’m using ibm laptop 600x with windows XP. I took my cd drive off then oneday i put it back on, my system start to crash ever since. I reinstall the new system a couple of times but it’s still crashing on me. When it crash, it says the message some thing like “there’s new install software or hardware and the code is 0x0000000A … ” I have the same application same before i put my cd drive back on.. so i don’t think it is the cd… can some one help me.. thank you
