System Disk error

On system startup I receive a System Disk error message–replace disk and hit any key. My computer will not allow me to “msconfig”. This problem started today, after downloading a McAfee VirusScan Update and rebooting my computer. How can I continue with the Windows ME load-in to start my computer?
