SYSVOL not shared on single DC

I have asked this question before, but I still have not resolved the issue. In a straight Windows 2000 network, I have a single Domain Controller. I discovered that the SYSVOL directory is not shared anymore. I noticed this when trying to add another server to the domain. It must have been lost some time ago, because on my backup tapes, the share attribute seems to be missing also. I have tried several suggestions with no success. One suggestion was to do a Directory Restore; if I do a restore from an older backup tape, I was told that the Winnt directory also had to be backed up on the same tape in order to effect this kind of repair? Evidently, mine are no good, because the restore didn’t do the trick. Are there any other ways to fix this?
