tcp/ip security on a single port

by lelton . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

Hi Gents,
We have just setup a mail server and open the mail port to the outside world. We only need/want our laptop uses to access our mail server. I right now the user is challenged with a pop3 user name and password to get email access. Is thereany additional password/encription software that I could install on the server and clients that would only allow those company laptop to access the mail server on port 110. I remember seeing some shareware program that did exactly this based upon anextra windows password chanllenge, but I am looking for something a little bit stronger (like encription technology). I don’t think this is in the areana of VPN’s (its not drive access), but its the same kind of idea.

In essence I am looking for encription technology to allow/disallow access to port 110.

Any ideas ?
