telnet

hi
i am having dsl connection and a proxy server through which all access there mail in outlook express and access internet.my proxy is wingate5.0.there are 48 machine running .i cannot telnet .should i change sitting in my wingate proxy. i have done some sitiing but after telneting it gives
wingate>
then i type login.
then it get disconnected . can u tell me exact wingate sitting for telnet.by telnetting what can i do?
