Telnet and net send

Hi all.
I know how to start telnet in 2k and xp. BUT what is the correct way to send a message. Plus do i need to use spaces and or / \”” etc.
I belive it goes somthing like this.
..net send 192.168.1.102 “Hi how are the kids”.. then push enter? Is this right? Please who ever sends a reply to this please put in an example just as it should be done.
