terminal services printing problem

by ppoll . Updated 23 years, 5 months ago

I’m having a strange problem printing with terminal services. I have a few network printers set up. Some are connected to lpt1 on a print server and then shared, and some are directly attached to the network via HP Jetdirect cards. All of the printers that are connected directly to the network with a HPJetdirect card do not work properly from within terminal services. Some programs print fine, and some programs just seem to lose the job somewhere (test pages print fine, as do internet pages, but notepad documents just don’t print, as well a proprietory program that we are using here)- when you press print- it seems to go through- but nothing comes out at the printer- and it doesn’t give any error messages. I know the printer is working fine, because all other network users have no problem printing anything and even the terminal server is able to print properly at the server console itself, (It just doesn’t work in a terminal service session) The network printers that are directly connected to lpt1 on a server and then shared, also work fine from terminal services- it’s just the printers connected directly to the network with the jetdirect cards that have problems.(and even then it’s only in terminal services clients) Do you have any idea what I can do to fix this problem? Any advice would really be appreciated.

Thank You,
P Pollack
