The case of the Disappearing Printers

I was having problems with a printer that was connected via a Lexmark adapter to our NT 4 print server. As part of the troubleshooting process I uninstalled the drivers for the Xerox Docuprint P12 laser printer that I was having the problem with and when I rebooted, to my surprise, all of the printers had disappeared from the server. The added twist was one printer, out of about 18, remained in the list. The printer is an Oce 3165 and was installed on LPT1 and all of the other printers were either HP Jet Direct or Lexmark Adapter connected printers. What caused the printers to disappear like that and how can I get them back?
