The event log file is corrupt-WIN2K Pro

I use Windows 2000 Professional workstation. When I open the event viewer on my workstation I get “The event log file is corrupt” message. If I click OK and check the application log file in event viewer it does not show that I logged off. The PDC and BDC also do not show I logged off. How can I fix this error on my workstation?
