To Install VISTA on separate partition within one HDD

by newcomer01 . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

Hi Everybody,

My HDD has 3 primary partitions, Win2K3-DC was on Partition 1. All of partitions is NTFS. Now I want to install VISTA on Partition 2 or 3.

After booting from VISTA DVD (Untimate OEM Aug2K7), where do you want to install … I click on partition 2 or 3 … it always shows error message: Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation

Here is what to extract from Windows help:

– Installing a new version of Windows when You have an operating system installed on your computer and you want to install Windows on an available, separate partition of your hard disk.

– Make sure that your hard disk has a separate partition for each operating system that you want to install, or that your computer has multiple hard disks. Otherwise, you will either have to reformat and repartition your hard disk or install the new operating system on a separate hard disk. Also, make sure that the partition or disk where you plan to install the new version of Windows is formatted with the NTFS file system

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
