Torisan 3disk CD on Win98

I have a client who had his Torisan CDR-C36 drive working fine with Windows98. It is set up on the Secondary Master IDE channel and was working fine until he installed drivers for his Zip drive.

Since then, no amount of removal/install cycles has fixed the problem.

Has anyone seen this problem before and been able to solve it without a clean install of Windows?
