Toshiba Laptop

I have a Toshiba Satellite A10-S177, it developed some complications with the viruses which made it act funny.

I cleaned the system and later decided to re-install the operating system. However when am in the middle of my isntallation the laptop just goes off, what might be the problem. I really want to re-install XP sp2 but it keeps going off even when it is fully connected to power, 512 Memory, 40Gbs Harddisk memory and 2.8GHZ processor speed.
